Dr. David Vannucci and Lorenzo Boccetti recently attended the Nokia Developers evening school run by JCSE/Wits in the Wits Convergence Laboratory. The aim of the course was to learn about programming for nokia devices and ultimately to create an app for the Nokia store from scratch. Teemu Kiijarvi and Derrick Kotze from Nokia lectured on how to create applications and the Nokia store.
David and Lorenzo teamed up to develop a subnet calculator which determines subnet masks for IP networks and other useful network information. During the final week, all the students presented their work to the Nokia staff at a function held at the Nokia offices in Sunninghill. After presenting their work David and Lorenzo were awarded a prize for “Best user experience” and the overall prize for “Best App”.
The subnet calculator will be available on the Nokia store shortly.
